Katherine read music at Exeter University, specialising in performance.
She sang from an early age with the Berkshire Youth Choir (Sainsbury’s
Choir of the Year 1996) with whom she toured Italy, made a première
recording with Richard Sisson and the Wren Orchestra and performed at
the Royal Albert Hall. At Exeter, she was a member of the University
Chapel Choir and also held the post of Soprano Scholar at St Peter’s
Church, Tiverton. After graduating, Katherine continued to explore the
solo soprano repertory with Catherine Bott and continued her choral work
with the Cantores Early Music Chamber Choir, the Academy
of St Martin in the Fields Chorus, and in the choir of Our Lady
of Victories, Kensington. Her concert work as a soprano soloist has
included performing Vivaldi’s cantata Nulla in mundo pax sincera,
Vaughan William’s Mass in G minor and Handel’s Messiah.
More recently, she has sung the role of the Angel in Respighi’s Lauda
per la Nativita del Signore. She performs regularly with the
specialist medieval group Dragonsfire and has given solo recitals in
London, Exeter and Weybridge. Previous performances include: Bach Cantata No. 79 ‘Gott, der Herr ist Sonn und Schild’Handel Messiah Mendelssohn Hymn of Praise Mozart Exultate, jubilate Respighi Lauda per la Nativita del Signore Schubert Mass in G Vaughan Williams Mass in G minor Vivaldi Nulla in mundo pax sincera
These are a few suggestions of repertoire suitable for wedding ceremonies. They provide starting points for pieces which may be sung at either church/civil services. Clearly, any bride or groom may have pieces in mind that have a special significance or resonance for them. These, more personal requests are most welcome.
