The Regent String Quartet is a young professional quartet that was formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 1995 by Caryn Cohen, Sarah Turner and Helen Godbolt, later joined by Emma Martin from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Whilst at the Royal Academy of Music they won the J B McEwan prize awarded for the best string quartet of the year. Since leaving the institution they have performed regular recitals in London and surrounding areas.

This London based quartet has extensive experience in performing at wedding services and receptions, corporate functions, a variety of parties including engagement and garden parties and fund raising events.

The success of the quartet is due to its skill in selecting the right music for each occasion – and since its repertoire ranges from Bach to Bernstein there is always something to suit everyone. Although based in London the quartet has played in many prestigious venues across the country.

They have played at most major London hotels including The Dorchester, The Langham, The Lanesborough, Claridges, The Hyatt Carlton Tower and also at The Banqueting House, The Guildhall, The Tower of London and Stoke Park.

Previous engagements include a Christmas party at No. 11 Downing Street, exhibitions at the Tate Gallery and the Natural History Museum, a book launch at Searcy’s brasserie in Knightsbridge, a wedding reception at St James’ Palace, the launch of a passenger carrying balloon company at Tower Bridge and numerous fundraisers.

The Quartet receives coaching from members of the Alberni and Amadeus Quartets as well as giving coaching to many young amateur groups in and around London.

The quartet also performs in classical music concerts in an around London. Recent performances have included the Brighton Music Festival, the Hampstead and Highgate Music Festival, the Abinger Music Festival, the Burgh House Trust and a benefit concert for the Macmillan Cancer Fund.
