The Laurelin String Quartet was formed in Glasgow in 1995 by students then at the RSAMD.

The young founder members have each gone on to have their own flourishing professional playing careers and have between them played with every professional orchestra in Scotland; with touring London shows such as Phantom of the Opera; and with  live shows, recording sessions and videos for famous artists as diverse as top singer Michael Ball and Brit Award Winners 'Belle and Sebastion'.

The original quartet are still based in Glasgow, and now due to increasing demand bookings ‘south of the border’ subsidiary groups have been formed in Glasgow, Leeds and London. The result is "Laurelin Strings".

Laurelin Strings have performed at prestigious venues all over the UK.

Recent engagements have included BBC Music Live at the Glasgow Royal Concert  Hall;  Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh before HRH Prince Edward; the Premier of Gordon McPherson 3rd String Quartet at the Salisbury Festival;  recitals at St. Martin in the Fields, London.
