Harpist

Camilla Pay was born in 1979 and began playing the harp at the age of eight. She was a music scholar at the King’s School, Canterbury and was awarded an entrance scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, where she graduated with honours, on a Bachelor of music degree. There, she studied with acclaimed harpists, Skaila Kanga and Daphne Boden.

Presently, Camilla is enjoying a varied career as a freelance harpist; working with orchestras, chamber groups and solo. She has played principal harp in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed various concertos, including Mozart’s Harp and Flute Concerto in Canterbury Cathedral. She has given many solo recitals throughout Europe, including the World Harp Congress held in Prague and a performance at the European Harp Symposium in Amsterdam. She has been a soloist on all three Fred Olsen Cruise Liners around Europe and Africa.  For two years Camilla was harpist in residence at the Grosvenor House Hotel and currently holds residencies at the Langham Hilton and the Park Lane Hilton.

Harpist Camilla Pay            In 2002, television appearances included playing with Aled Jones for ITV and jazz/soul singer Natalie Cole on BBC’s Parkinson show. She was also a featured artist in a TV series, ‘Music in Mansions’.

Ensembles that Camilla works with include the Arion Duo, with flautist Eliza Marshall and is part of the Korros Ensemble, a beautiful combination of flute, clarinet and harp, which have a busy recital schedule for 2003, including their debut at St. Martin-in-the-fields. She also accompanies soprano singer, Victoria Barbé.

Camilla has vast experience in playing for weddings, ranging from a ceremony in a windmill to 600 guests arriving at a Park Lane hotel. Her repertoire list is vast but can usually accommodate more unusual requests.
